Project Description
Turning Theory into Action (TITAN)
Project period: January 2021 – December 2024
Principal Investigators: Eva Boxenbaum & Renate Meyer
The TITAN project investigates how unintended consequences arise from the use of academic knowledge in organizational practice. Unintended consequences matter because they contribute to the societal impact of academic knowledge production.
Empirically, we use institutional theory and translation as a theoretical framework and employ qualitative methods to investigate academic knowledge produced within the field of organization and management theory. We trace in real time how individuals select and interpret theoretical concepts and translate them into organizational practice through consecutive interpretations.
Our aim is to theorize the processes through which unintended consequences arise, notably those that contradict the intentions of the scholars who produced the academic knowledge.
The project is funded by the Velux foundation.
